The final day of the workshop LeCake team spent in La Cartoucherie(cultural place in Paris that is home for several theaters, including
the Théâtre du Soleil, founded in 1964 by Ariane Mnouchkine.)
Our goal there was to talk with professionals, including Elaine Méric (co-director of Théâtre de l’Aquarium/la vie brève) about
sustainability in the sense of the theater: materials and prop.
Théâtre de l’Aquarium/la vie brève has this great initiative of eco design and reuse strategy.
They have their own warehouse where they keep the prop and remake them.
Elaine Méric shared that she tries to involve other theaters and directors in this idea but sometimes it’s very challenging. All because they have their own image in their head of how the play should look like. Unfortunately, sometimes second-hand objects do not match with this.
We were able to see how these warehouses look and to get more in depth what is the strategy behind that and how they plan to develop this idea in the future.
Of course, we couldn’t finish this week without the evaluation part.
At the end, all partners were able to share what they thought of these 5 days but also of LeCake way we have already made too.
What was missing? What did you enjoy the most? What would you like to see more/less? What would you like to implement into Chapter 3?
Next time we see each other in Athens, Greece!
With all the materials, emotions, experience, knowledge gained, we can’t wait to meet again and learn more about how we can improve our work and projects in a more sustainable way.
